10 reasons to invest in Nobles Crus

Nobles Crus Perspectives 2011

Wine: a passion and an investment

Terroirs, grape varieties, vintages, wine-making techniques and the maturing process... A grand cru is the result of a complex combination of different factors.

An investment in wine is just like a grand cru: it requires equal amounts of passion and reason, of love and experience, in order to fully bear fruit. With this delicate balance in mind, Elite Advisers' Managing Partners carefully combined the talents of an experienced penologist and a top fund manager to launch Nobles Crus in 2008: a Luxembourg Specialised Investment Fund (SIF) that invests in the world's most prestigious wines.

Come and explore a world of colours and flavors ...

Wine is not only a passion but also a highly rewarding investment theme. The annualized average performance of fine wines has been about 14.95 % since 1950.

The perfect blend of wine and finance

vintage wine fund The co-founders of Elite Advisers recognized that, as an expert and investment manager, Christian Roger had the necessary skills to turn their new fund into a "grand cru".

The Investment Manager of Nobles Crus has 20 years' experience as a banker in some of the largest international
institutions. However, his interest in the world of wine
emerged very early on and has only increased with time.

In 1998, he left the banking sector in order to fully dedicate himself to his passion for wine. Notably, recognized expert Christian Roger is a permanent member of the European Grand Jury of Wine Tasting. He is indisputably one of the greatest connoisseurs of the rarest, most renowned and most sought-after wines. With his team of eight experts, he brings his in-depth knowledge of oenology and experience as an investment manager to the task of selecting and managing the wines in the Nobles Crus portfolio.

An exciting yet sensible investment for optimal results

Christian Roger shares his passion for wine with you through Nobles Crus. Among his selections, you will find reliable assets and unexpected nectars, and you can access this exceptional wine collection in the form of shares. As an underlying asset, fine wine boasts several unique characteristics: it is a tangible product with good price stability and strong market demand as the supply (its production) is finite, and it improves in quality as it ages.

A portfolio of wines

Along with the Nobles Crus co-managers, Christian Roger is unequalled when it comes to unearthing the best growths and finest vintages from around the world. As a recognized European specialist, he focuses up to 80 % of his investments on French, Italian and Spanish wines. Thanks to his international expertise, the Nobles Crus fund also benefits from his discoveries in California, Australia and other non-European countries, with up to 20 % invested in wines from these areas. The emphasis is placed on classified flue wines (up to 70 %), while the balance is focused on en primeur wines (up to 20 %) and cash (minimum 10 %) in order to meet possible redemption obligations.

An informed and active management

nobles crus As Investment Manager, Christian Roger selects the wines, purchasing them both directly from producers of classified fine wines and en primeur wines and at auctions. He estimates and sells the wines and oversees the bottling process as well as the transportation of the wine to specialised storage locations (Port Francs, Geneva).
In short, he combines his financial experience and wine expertise in order to permanently optimise the value of the Nobles Crus wine cellar.

The management of the fund is transparent and investors are regularly updated. Furthermore, the fund is open-ended insofar as it has no fixed lifetime or subscription period. Units may be subscribed or redeemed each month on the basis of the monthly net asset value. Subject to the agreement of the Investment Manager, redemptions may even be made in kind with wine. You can therefore enjoy access, at merchant prices, to a wine cellar housing outstanding crus that are extremely rare on the more traditional markets.
